$40 tomatoes
By Logan | August 4, 2008

What you may notice about these tomatoes is that they are small. Very small. No larger than grapes. Which would naturally cause you to wonder, “Why on earth would anybody pay more than one of those lousy quarters for those three grape-tomatoes?” We paid $40 for them. That includes the plant, the soil, other plants that did not produce anything, other seeds that did not produce anything, and pots for all of this (because we rent and can’t install a real garden). With all our mini-garden spending and preparation, this is the entire yield. Now the plants are nearly dead. All purchases were made at Home Depot in Lindon.
My theory is that the soil we bought was more like toxic waste, but I am now accepting gardening advice in the comments section of this post.

Logan, you are more than welcome to come down and get stuff from our garden. We have zucchini, cucumber, potatoes, corn, cantaloupe, tomatoes (regular, not grape sized), peppers, carrots, and pumpkins. If you don’t come get some, they’ll go to waste. I know it’s not your own garden, but it’s good food and it’s free. …And you can come see little Megan!
